Ceramic phosphors have high thermal conductivity and stability, showing great potential for use in laser lighting. However, it is difficult to further improve the forward efficiency transmissive mode because of arbitrarily emitting ceramic light loss by secondary optical components. Here, an effective design rod-shaped LuAG:Ce transparent ceramics was proposed, silicone encapsulated ceramic-based devices could operate stably under 3.5 W excitation, possessing a luminous 150–180 lm/W, far exceeding level existing commercial mode. Besides, gradual absorption blue gradient distribution heat, bear power density 46 W/mm 2 without saturation, thermal-induced degradation only accounted 7% 15 min operation.
