Functional graphenic materials (FGMs) are derived from graphene oxide (GO) that hold a plethora of applications electronics to nanomedicine. In this Perspective, we examine the history and evolution biomedical carbon-based macromolecule. Following carbon nanotube (CNT) movement, GO FGMs became nanocarbons interest because their low cost versatile functionality. The tunable chemistry enabled our work on coupled with biomacromolecules allows plays an important role in many applications, tissue regeneration controlled delivery.
