Abstract For a society to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, public must also participate in practices that reduce emissions their daily lives. This study investigates how males and females differ forming intent such practices. Our analysis nationwide survey sample taken from South Korea shows (1) have higher rate neutral practices; however, (2) positive effect perceived necessity neutrality on this is greater among males. These findings suggest although are more restrained regarding view practices, can be greatly increased if they perceive as necessary. The contribute existing research role gender environmental psychology provide implications for communicating essential information behavior general public.
