The site-selective C8-allylation and vinylation of isoquinolones have been accomplished using allyl acetate vinyl oxo group isoquinolone as an inherent directing in the presence Co(III) catalysis. A plausible mechanism for developed reaction has also delineated based on preliminary mechanistic studies. Broad substrate scope with good to excellent yield post-synthetic transformations products feature importance reaction.
