Cross‐Regional Energy Dispatch and Firm Energy Intensity: A Quasi‐Natural Experiment from China’s West‐To‐East Natural Gas Pipeline Project

Cross‐regional energy dispatch project is a crucial strategy for countries to reduce transportation costs and achieve optimal allocation. This research constructs quasi‐natural experiment based on the West‐to‐East Natural Gas Pipeline Project in China. It finds that cross‐regional significantly reduces firms’ intensity, firms economically developed regions high‐polluting benefit more from it. The mechanism test shows dispatching enterprises’ coal consumption, increases proportion of cleaner optimizes their consumption structure. accelerates exit inefficient enterprises development efficient enterprises. enhances green innovation activities renewal production equipment. Governments should encourage cooperation use distribution resources.
