Abstract
The
COVID-19
pandemic
emerged
as
a
healthcare
crisis
and
quickly
evolved
into
for
all
levels
of
society.
A
systemic
preparedness
the
complexity
is
required
that
integrates
knowledge
from
researchers
practitioners
alike.
However,
countries
such
Belgium
were
not
prepared
to
handle
in
way.
Here
we
show
how
an
interdisciplinary
group
students
context
their
honours
degree
designed,
organised,
facilitated
transdisciplinary
co-creation
workshop
evaluate
Belgium’s
with
stakeholders
after
first
year
pandemic.
We
find
lack
transdisciplinarity,
illiteracy,
insufficient
involvement
human
sciences
decision
making
processes,
fragmented
authority
are
some
most
important
gaps
according
Belgian
stakeholders.
They
identified
underlying
causes
which
have
clustered
five
emergent
themes:
principal
agent
problems
(politicians
taking
decisions
own
interest
instead
people
they
represent),
distrust
authority,
government
incompetence,
apathy,
transdisciplinarity.
Additional
student
reflections
on
experience
guiding
developed
understanding
concept
experienced
difficulties
facilitating
integration,
critical
career
skills.
More
general,
our
results
demonstrate
education
designed
innovative
method
led
improved
systems
development

Human-centered
systems
thinking
(HCST)
can
be
seen
as
a
promising
enabler
of
effective
Industry
5.0.
This
study
primarily
examined
whether
architecture
students
consider
themselves
thinkers
and
how
this
affects
their
design
thinking,
digital
competency,
engagement
in
sustainable
inclusive
practices.
Next,
also
the
students’
HCST
profiles,
stability,
roles
motivation,
risk
propensity
human-centered
design.
Using
person-oriented
approach
cluster
analysis,
sample
Polish
from
three
universities
(n
=
208)
was
classified
based
on
self-perceived
ability.
Three
profiles
were
identified,
namely
high,
average,
low
HCST.
A
multivariate
analysis
variance
(MANOVA)
revealed
that
differed
significantly
terms
competencies,
while
multinomial
logistic
regression
(MLR)
perceived
intrinsic
motivation
predicted
would
more
likely
to
have
high
profile.
