Abstract γ ‐Aminobutyric acid (GABA) plays an important role in plant resistance to abiotic stress, but the mechanisms underlying GABA‐mediated alleviation of Cd stress leafy vegetables have not yet been elucidated. Therefore, this study aims investigate effects different GABA concentrations on growth and content lettuce ( Lactuca sativa L.) under conditions. The results indicate that (50 μ mol/L) significantly inhibited growth, decreased chlorophyll content, increased osmoregulatory compound content. Under conditions, exogenous application 1 2 g/L increasing lettuce's height biomass. At same time, reduced shoots roots lettuce, by 4.92%–12.16% compared treatment alone. In addition, also alleviated decrease antioxidant enzyme activities increase caused thereby alleviating Cd‐induced oxidative damage. PCA correlation analysis can be explained changes cadmium photosynthetic pigment levels, activities. Overall, these provide a reference for reduction lettuce.
