Abstract Several accounts of delay discounting suggest subjective time perception as a contributing factor to individually varying discount rates. That is, one may seem impatient if their is longer than others’ it. Here we build upon the behavioral and neural research on perception, investigate effects manipulating an individual’s rates activity. Using novel time- counting task, found that participants’ are affected by our manipulations activity also correlates with in brain regions, such anterior insula superior temporal gyri, which have been implicated perception. We link these findings together showing degree change response manipulation predictive

Abstract Deception is a universal human behavior. Yet longstanding skepticism about the validity of measures used to understand biological mechanisms underlying deceptive behavior has relegated such studies scientific periphery. Here we address these fundamental questions by applying novel machine learning methods and functional neuroimaging signaling games capturing motivated deception in participants. First, develop an approach test for presence confounding processes thereby validate past showing that much predictive power neural predictors trained on data comes from processes. Second, show signals need not be fatal, improve our predictor via procedure identifies removes signals. Together, findings point studying neglected class behavior, with important methodological societal implications.

Abstract Pro-environmental behavior, including waste sorting and recycling, involves a combination of future-oriented (futureness) other-oriented (otherness) attributes. Inspired by the perspective intergenerational choice, this work explores whether eliciting concerns for future others could increase public support recycling policy behavior. Study 1 consisted an online random controlled trial laboratory experiment. In 1A ( N = 400), other-concern was primed using static text manipulation, whereas in 1B 192), dynamic virtual manipulation employed. The results showed that people conditions elicited reported greater household intentions more actual behavior than those control conditions. 2A 467) 2B 600) generalized effect on acceptance ‘Certain Time Certain Place’ China. These findings provide new method promoting suggesting become environmentally friendly when they are guided to consider others.
