Abstract The persistent discrepancy between climate models and proxy records regarding temperature variations throughout the Holocene remains evident in our latest isotope‐enabled transient simulations (iTRACE). This study quantifies model sensitivity to insolation forcing investigates origins of uncertainties mid‐Holocene temperatures by combining iTRACE with multi‐model from Palaeoclimate Model Intercomparison Project (PMIP4) component phase Coupled (CMIP6). We show that inter‐model response exceed ensemble mean signals, particularly over Northern Hemisphere during boreal winter. weak observed most models, compared paleoclimate reconstructions, is attributed low forcing, arising insufficient local‐to‐regional feedbacks northern mid‐to‐high latitudes. Additionally, summer originate sea ice‐albedo feedback shortwave‐cloud feedback. In winter, are air moisture content, cloud cover, ocean heat release subpolar atmosphere. modulated interplay multiple internal within system, addition a direct forcing. Finally, we argue improving mid‐high latitudes will also enhance tropical simulations, as these regions linked through meridional atmospheric transport.
