Historical landrace collections, such as the Watkins Wheat Collection, harbor immense genetic diversity that holds potential to transform our understanding of crop resilience and adaptation. This study employs a novel integrative phenotyping approach dissect regional adaptation nitrogen stress in wheat landraces under contrasting regimes. By leveraging multidimensional framework, including indices, geographic analyses, multivariate clustering, this work identifies 48 with responses limitation. High-performing genotypes, WATDE0013 WATDE0020, exhibited superior biomass partitioning stress, reflecting historical low-input agroecosystems spanning Europe, Asia, North Africa. These findings emphasize value phenotypic plasticity use efficiency (NUE) improvement. In contrast, low-performing accessions, WATDE1055, highlighted vulnerabilities limitation, illustrating importance comprehensive screening for gene-bank prioritization. Regional patterns, elucidated through uncovered stress-resilient genotypes clustered historically marginal agricultural regions, revealing adaptive traits shaped by environmental selection pressures. Principal component analysis (PCA) hierarchical clustering delineated five distinct groups, enhancing evolutionary trajectories within collection. transcends traditional methods linking phenotype, genotype, context uncover nuanced traits. bridging gene bank conservation systems-level evolution, provides actionable insights robust framework breeding climate-resilient varieties. underscore critical role preserving address global challenges climate resilience.
