The health benefits of vitamin B9 (folate) are well documented, particularly in regard to neural tube defects during pregnancy; however, much remains be learned regarding the effects and risks consuming folic acid supplements foods fortified with acid. In 2020, our laboratory conducted a population-based analysis Food Fortification Initiative (FFI) dataset determine strength evidence prevalence (NTD) at national level response mandatory fortification cereal grains We found very weak correlation between NTDs irrespective grain (wheat, maize, or rice). strong linear relationship reduced higher socioeconomic status (SES).
