In 2017, the UK Government published their proposal for expanding access to mental health support all children and young people. Establishing Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) educational settings, formed a key commitment as part of these proposals. Since this time, MHSTs across country have focused on supporting three aims; deliver evidence-based interventions mild moderate issues, Senior Leads (SMHL) in schools colleges develop whole school/college approach (WSA) regard emotional wellbeing, provide timely advice signposting support. The following reflective piece aims share experiences Local Authority (LA) employed Educational Psychologists (EPs) who were enlisted SMHLs further WSA one local MHST. Through work, it became evident that imposing medical, health-oriented model education systems, presents challenge. Three challenges linked planning delivery EPs provided MHST been selected discussion here. This concludes with summarising several implications practice recommendations future service delivery, including championing view EP Services, skills, unique understanding should an integral role aiding undertaking MHSTs.
