Self-leadership has been recognized as a factor influencing work outcomes in various job settings. However, its impact on research productivity universities remains relatively unexplored. Therefore, this study investigates the of self-leadership universities, well mediating role self-efficacy and moderating gender. Data were gathered from 212 academics two public Tanzania using structured questionnaires analyzed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The sample size was obtained Yamane formula. findings indicate that contributes significantly to explaining productivity, partially mediates relationship. This provides clear understanding how enhances which turn leads improved academics' productivity. These emphasize importance bolstering confidence conducting research, leading heightened output.
