Abstract Bushfire events can directly and indirectly impact drinking water distribution networks. Water authorities around the world have experienced compromised supply quality in aftermath of recent bushfires, necessitating costly investigation repair. Future climate models predict an escalation bushfire weather with a significant increase severity frequency many regions, for which must now prepare. Currently, there is no systematic review on that bushfires networks how these impacts be evaluated investigated. Abstract Background The U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) categorizes Filipino Americans as Asian; however, many may not identify such, opting instead for “other” or Pacific Islander (PI). This study examines the extent to which select PI rather than Asian, using a large population-based survey Californians. Methods We analyzed data from 2019, 2020, 2021 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), largest state health in that includes write-in prompts detailed race ethnicity data. focus was on participants who identified Islanders wrote 'Filipino,' those selected 'Asian' specified respondents chose 'other' 'Filipino.' Results Our analysis included 1,859 respondents, revealing 8.8% Islander, 85.2% 6.1% "other." Those identifying were more likely also Latino/Hispanic, be older, possess citizenship compared Asian. Discussion Disaggregating broader Asian category surveys is vital accurately community's unique needs. recommend incorporating open-ended ask first their (e.g. Asian). These help reclassify have PI. Such are important other racial/ethnic communities uncertain about how categorize themselves. Ongoing, dynamic community-driven research essential understanding identities effectively categorizing communities.
