Xenobiotic aromatic compounds are the raw materials of necessities in modern life, such as plastics, pesticides, and antibiotics. To meet global requirements, their production consumption have continually increased, thus, vast amount waste generated results prominent environmental pollution. Fortunately, some microorganisms (e.g., Comamonas spp.) can specially use these pollutants substrates for growth, allowing development bioremediation technology to achieve sustainable goals. Here, we describe common xenobiotic used our daily discuss impact on environment, review biodegradation strategies by testosteroni, an example. Finally, argue that microbiome engineering opens up avenue future biofilm-based improve compound bioremediation.
