Abstract The business ecosystem theory has developed rapidly in recent years and become a hot topic the field of management. However, use this concept is controversial. This study systematically reviewed literature published spanning nearly three decades from 1993 to 2022. In paper, researchers designed an improved traceability method retrieve based on data sources form Web Science. VOSviewer CiteSpace are adopted as two scientific atlas tools for information processing visualization evaluate relationship between sub fields ecosystem. findings show that four branches ecosystem, i.e., innovation, platform, entrepreneurship service, absorb theoretical ideas varying degrees. Among them, inheritance innovation branch most clear, gradually grows into backbone research. Major contribution reflected aspects: Firstly, provides repeatable quantitative description process basis significantly reducing researchers’ subjective participation. Secondly, perspective bibliometrics, direction key nodes development identified.
