1. Benzophenone-3, commonly known as oxybenzone, is an organic compound widely used in sunscreens and personal care products for protection against UVA UVB rays. Due to its environmental persistence potential toxicity, this study evaluated the effects of BP-3 at environmentally relevant concentration (1 µg/L) on gills, kidney, antioxidant system zebrafish (Danio rerio).2. Adult male were randomly distributed into three groups, each with replicates (n = 10 per group): water control, solvent 1 µg/L BP-3, using a static exposure 96 hours. After experiment, histopathological analyses gills kidneys performed, along biochemical assessments enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalase (CAT).3. Exposure resulted significant alterations including vascular congestion, epithelial detachment, edema, lamellar aneurysm, indicating severe damage respiratory function. In kidneys, glomerular capillary dilation, tubular cell vacuolization, focal necrosis observed, suggesting renal dysfunction. Biochemical revealed impairment defense system: SOD activity decreased, while CAT remained unchanged, oxidative stress accumulation. significantly increased, enzymatic imbalance cumulative damage.4. These results demonstrate that even low concentrations, induces D. rerio, highlighting compromise organ function defenses. findings underscore need stricter regulation release aquatic environments mitigate ecotoxicological impacts protect biodiversity.
