Abstract This paper presents a reasoned account of the critiques addressed to circular economy and business models. These claim that has diffused limits, unclear theoretical grounds, its implementation faces structural obstacles. Since the publication of European Union's Circular Economy Action Plan in 2015, this new sustainability paradigm has become a guiding force behind environmental and economic policies Junker Commission. Abstract Background The aim of this paper is to reconsider the necessity for green transition and key preconditions implementation a circular economy in Western Balkan countries.
