This review of 20 prevention-related publications in Eating Disorders during 2024 is framed by three models: (1) Mental Health Intervention Spectrum: health promotion ➔ types prevention case identification/referral for treatment; (2) the cycle: rationale and theory, shaped critical reviews clarifying risk protective factors program innovation feasibility studies efficacy effectiveness research dissemination; (3) definitions links between eating disorder psychopathology, disordered behavior, disorders. Nine articles were category (including screening studies) gaps/shortcomings field; addressed correlates putative pathology; eight involved creation, adaptation, or upscaling programs: pilot projects, one study, four investigations effectiveness. Abstract Body image concerns significantly impact boys’ physical and mental health. While several reviews synthesize evidence on body interventions for mixed-gender adolescents, a systematic review exclusively focusing boys is currently missing. Thus, this synthesizes universal psychosocial targeting among identifies effective approaches enhancing their image. Searches were conducted across seven databases until February 2024. Forty-one studies included assessed quality domains such as selection bias, study design, methods. Three targeted boys, while 38 involved groups. Multiple therapeutic used the interventions, including media literacy, socio-cognitive approaches, combined cognitive dissonance positive image, compassion mindfulness, other with no single approach proving universally effective. Some promise employing embodiment techniques was noted. Few showed effectiveness but most benefited girls. Further, findings inconsistent outcomes, lower-quality driving of effectiveness. These highlight that current inconclusive, emphasizing urgent need improvement or development new tailored specifically to address concerns.
