Abstract
Using
publications
in
the
Web
of
Science
database
(WoS),
this
study
investigates
research
collaboration
on
top
95
most
researched
global
river
basins
since
1900.
The
links
both
disciplines
involved
and
management
issues
studied
between
biophysical,
economic,
societal,
climatic
governance
sub-systems
these
were
examined.
We
found
that
collaborations
dominated
within
biophysical
sub-system
(65.3%)
knowledge
predevelopment
period
(1900–1983),
with
continuous
increases
(by
18.5%)
during
rapid
development
(1984–2000)
stabilisation
(12.9%
increase)
(2001–2017).
However,
related
to
societal
remained
marginalised
(varied
at
about
1%),
while
those
expanded
(32.8%)
but
not
supported
by
core
(3.4%).
key
findings
explained
why

degraded

assist
strategic
planning

improving
capacity

Palawan
Island
is
home
to
one
of
Southeast
Asia’s
largest,
oldest,
and
most
diversified
rainforests
hence
it
was
called
the
«Last
Frontier.»
However,
island
province’s
forest
contending
with
increased
conversion
lands
plantation
household-level
agriculture,
intensive
mineral
mining,
illegal
logging,
other
pressures
on
its
ecosystems.
Understanding
these
factors
in
relation
prevalence
deforestation
degradation
imperative.
This
paper
analyzed
drivers
using
social-ecological
systems
(SES)
institutional
analysis
development
(IAD)
frameworks.
A
literature
review
conducted
a
variety
web-based
databases
sources
additional
data
were
collected
from
official
websites
reports.
The
identified
major
province
include
increasing
population,
migration
lowland
upland
areas,
wide-scale
kaingin
oil
palm
plantation,
wildlife
poaching,
weak
policy
implementation
enforcement.
These
can
be
target
government
for
their
management
plans.
Additional
findings
recommendations
this
will
also
aid
planning
areas
where
similar
settings
exist.
