This study aims to investigate the cognitive mechanisms of rural residents amidst renewal suburban historical and cultural villages by examining interplay between nostalgia, collective memory, subjective well-being, place identity in tourism destinations. Using Naobao Village as a case study—a village Hohhot, Inner Mongolia—this research employs comprehensive approach integrating experimental methods questionnaire surveys. This study focuses on four traditional earthen–wooden villages in Hunan Province, exploring the multifaceted impacts of tourism development quality life from perspectives both residents and tourists. Utilizing structural equation modeling, this research examines how macro-level cultural resources, meso-level spatial characteristics, micro-level architecture influence its subsequent effects life.
