This Special Issue came about as the result of COVID-19 pandemic, which brought unprecedented shifts in conditions and opportunities for language education. In context heritage languages, there were significant challenges learners, parents, teachers, but also new rethinking ways languages taught passed on to next generation. this Issue, we take an ecological perspective policy planning (henceforward LPP) focus micro- meso-level LPP related learning intergenerational transmission languages. While approach taken volume aligns with notion that macro, meso micro perspectives, goals activities are not independent each other form a complex ecology (Baldauf, Citation2006), our here is formal making implementation, practices surrounding learning, teaching use, forms (Liddicoat, Citation2020).
