In China, coal remains the dominant energy source, leading to substantial production of gangue. This study established comparative zones—a area and a control area—and applied Geo-Detector model (GDM), Absolute Principal Component Score-Multiple Linear Regression (APCS-MLR) model, cadmium isotope fingerprinting delineate origins heavy metal(loid)s (HMs) in soil proximate accumulations The contents (Cd), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As), lead (Pb) were significantly elevated relative control, whereas levels chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), zinc (Zn) displayed no marked differences between zones, underscoring an intensified pollution level region. integration GDM, APCS-MLR, Cd methods enhanced precision dependability identifying sources. Soil contamination was predominantly due persistent gangue accumulation, vehicular emissions, agricultural chemicals, contributing 40.1%, 33.7%, 26.2% respectively, while area, emissions activities main contributors. Surface runoff from accumulation emerged as pathway for area. underscores urgency implementing strategic management mitigation ecological hazards, particularly those associated with levels.
