The coast of south-western Bangladesh has been facing an increasing severity climate stressors, thereby affecting the livelihoods households. This necessitated importance understanding complex aspects their sustainability. study investigates factors influencing household income and livelihood sustainability coastal residents in southwestern Bangladesh. A survey was carried out among 300 heads households from Kailashganj Laudubi villages under Dacope sub-district Khulna district (a climate-sensitive region) We utilized composite index (LSI) multiple linear regression to identify households' income. Findings revealed that overall LSI 0.663 (moderate sustainability). Additionally, highest found terms social capital lowest identified financial capital. findings analysis indicated monthly positively significantly influenced by its close linkages local leaders (p < 0.05) association with non-governmental organizations 0.01). Moreover, economically active members 0.01), more accessibility commuting transportation availability water for irrigation 0.01) were derived Policymakers can use these results as a basis formulating policies (e.g., enhancing training skill development programs well prioritizing investment expanding systems) address essential requirements community is affected change.

Abstract Constraints and limits to adaptation are critical understanding the extent which human natural systems can successfully adapt climate change. We conduct a systematic review of 1,682 academic studies on responses identify patterns in constraints for different regions, sectors, hazards, response types, actors. Using definitions provided by Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change (IPCC), we find that most literature identifies but there is limited focused adaptation. The role of bonding, bridging, and linking social capital is a key factor in the adaptive capacity to climate-related disasters. But what roles do these three forms play, how they interact? This paper responds this question using evidence from northern Bangladesh's highly flood-prone Sirajganj District. Qualitative data 20 village-level Focus Group Discussions accounted for varying importance their interactions at different moments hazard cycle. Testimonies FGD participants revealed narrative which bonding took priority during flood onset as means safeguard persons property; bridging came into play more prominently crisis affected villagers sought coping assistance friends, neighbours relatives elsewhere, emerged vital contributor recovery phases, albeit interaction with modes. These findings demonstrate mutually reinforce one another over duration cycle, contributing recent research that has understand better contribution an increasingly climate-stressed world.

It therefore imperative understand perceptions order inform development sector. This novel exploratory study investigates opinions three stakeholder groups: professionals plastic processors; university students; consumers Belfast, Northern Ireland. During focus groups (25 participants total), samples plastics, including starch-based monolayer multilayer, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), were presented. Abstract Bangladesh’s unique climate vulnerability is well-investigated but the mental health impacts of change remain relatively unexplored. Three databases were searched for English primary qualitative studies published between 2000 and 2020. Out 1202 publications, 40 met inclusion criteria. This systematic review applies a systems approach to further understand ‘climate-wellbeing’ network. The literature indicates diverse factors linking environmental stress ill-health including four key themes: (1) post-hazard risks, (2) human (im)mobility, (3) social tension conflict, (4) livelihood loss economic hardship. analysis also revealed that people’s wellbeing strongly mediated by socio-economic status gender. article illustrates how multiple pathways may amplify stress, anxiety, violence, psychological damage. Greater recognition connections, incorporation in current action policy frameworks, will be an effective way achieve more sustainable future.

Bangladesh is one of the most climate-vulnerable countries globally, where livelihood agro-based dependent people became vulnerable due to different natural hazards, especially in southern coastal part. This study investigates influence climate change on household vulnerability and income diversity, data collected from areas Bangladesh. Both panel regression structural equation model were employed examine status, whereas diversity was measured through index "Type-66" strategy. Results reveal that sources have diversified over time. However, also reveals change-especially increase salinity has affected crop production, resulting increased small marginal farmers who are highly reliant farm income. Moreover, findings influenced households diversify into low-income do not help overcome their vulnerability. Therefore, a cooperative land management system, establishment embankment, training, skill development programs needed generate feasible alternative improve people.
