All around the world, inequalities persist in complex web of social, economic, and ecological factors that mediate food security outcomes at different human institutional scales. There have been rapid continuous improvements agricultural productivity better many regions world during past 50 years due to an expansion crop area, irrigation, supportive policy initiatives. However, Sub-Saharan Africa, situation is inverted. Statistics show insecurity has risen since 2015 African countries, worsened owing Ukraine conflict ongoing implications COVID-19 threat. This review looks into multidimensional challenges achieving SDG2 goal “End hunger, achieve improved nutrition, promote sustainable agriculture” Africa prosper recommendations for action. Findings indicate weak economic growth, gender inequality, high inflation, low productivity, investment irrigated agriculture research, climate change, population poor frameworks, infrastructural development, corruption are major hurdles sustaining Africa. Promoting investments infrastructure extension services together with implementing policies targeted enhancing households’ purchasing power, especially those rural regions, appear be essential drivers improving both availability access.

To mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on farm productivity and food security, climate-smart agricultural practices (CAPs) have become increasingly crucial in smallholder farming systems. However, adoption rate CAPs remains quite low. This study explores whether cooperatives can serve as an assistor promoting farmers' CAPs. Unlike previous studies that account for one or two practices, we consider CAP intensity by capturing number adopted. We employ endogenous treatment Poisson regression model to address selection bias issue estimate data collected from banana-producing farmers China. The results show cooperative membership significantly increases Specifically, incidence ratio estimates reveal incites banana adopt 1.205 times more CAPs, effect estimation further verifies positive impact. Among ten considered, particularly diversification, crop residual turnover, soil testing. Our findings highlight importance encouraging join adopting practices.

The use of Climate Information Services (CIS) is considered the most important solution for long-term adaptation agricultural sector in dealing with challenges caused by climate change. While there are examples successful CIS programs developed countries, barriers to successfully using farmers developing countries. In this regard, research was carried out two general objectives: (i) identifying factors affecting farmers, and (ii) providing practical policies applying information Iran. A comprehensive Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory used as theoretical framework research, self-efficacy (SE), social norm (SN), perceived trust (PT) were added variables. This conducted structural equation modeling (SEM), a designed questionnaire data-gathering instrument. statistical population includes all Dezful city Khuzestan province (southwest Iran). findings showed that initial TAM explains 0.537 % variance farmers' behavioral intention CIS. three primary constructs included Attitude, Perceived Usefulness (PU), Ease Use (PEOU), which had positive effects on willingness. Most importantly, including SE, SN, PT variables, can increase model's ability predict intentions 13.5 %.

Rural and agricultural communities' adaptation to climate change has gained significant attention owing many countries' vulnerability risks. A similar trend been witnessed in South Asia, a highly climate-vulnerable region, where research grown dramatically considering the agriculture sector's climate-induced disasters. However, little paid of livelihoods rural households. This research, therefore, takes case Pakistan explore livelihood strategies households investigate factors that expedite or halt adoption diversification strategies. multistage sampling design is used this 480 from Punjab province were selected interviewed using stratified random approaches. multivariate probit (MVP) regression model employed analyze affecting households' The results show besides agronomic operations (agricultural strategies), study area wide range adapt their change. These include poultry livestock farming, value addition farm produce, trading animals commodities, small businesses (shops, etc.), daily wage labor, horticultural crop non-farming jobs. estimates MVP revealed respondents' education, household size, income, access credit facility, advisory services, forecasts have significantly influenced choice Based on these findings, recommends authorities should make efforts improve farmers' understanding risks educate them adopt multiple options resilience important policy implications for other countries with socio-economic features.

This article argues that access to informational, financial, and human capital influences specific climate variability adaptation strategies. Even though this argument is highly supported within the conventional wisdom circle, extant literature remains sparing, particularly covering non-arid spaces in global south. Relying on cross-sectional data 150 smallholder crop farmers from southern Ghana, augmented with focus group discussions, we answer research question: What relationship between strategies a peri-urban geography? The results were estimated using multivariate probit regression. findings showed significantly influenced Specifically, informational organic manure application irrigation. Formal informal credit sources had no significant influence Human - household labour mixed cropping, manure, financial institutions are encouraged adapt tailor-made requirements sensitive high-level informalities pertaining peasant farming.
