Introduction Frequent geohazards along highways in the western Sichuan Plateau gradient zone severely constrain regional development. To clarify spatial distribution laws and main drivers of highway is crucial for geohazard prevention control. Methods This study analyzed 2230 sites within 3 km 11 zone, considering both internal external geodynamic factors. Additionally, further quantified influence each conditioning factor on using Geographical Detector Model (GDM). Results The following conclusions were drawn: (1) density high, averaging 1.16 per kilometer. (2) Highway exhibit clustering, with higher densities observed central part (e.g., Duwen Wenma highways) lower at periphery Mianjiu Majiu highways). (3) significantly influenced by distance to fault zones, vertical deformation gradients, rainfall, q values 0.39, 0.37, 0.31, respectively. (4) interaction between any two factors exhibits a value than individual Discussion Driven multi-sphere coupling effects among tectonic sphere, rock mass relaxation atmospheric engineering disturbance triggering mechanism has been established. primarily controlled such as from gradient, while other like elevation slope serve secondary controlling nonlinear synergistic primary amplify probability disaster risk. results quantitatively characterizes driving their effects.
