Background: ICD-11 features Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) as a new diagnosis. To date, very few studies have investigated CPTSD in young patients, and there is need for evidence on effective treatment. Objective: The present study evaluates the applicability of developmentally adapted cognitive processing therapy (D-CPT) patients secondary analysis treatment condition randomized controlled trial (RCT) investigating efficacy D-CPT.Methods: D-CPT group original included 44 (14–21 years) with DSM-IV PTSD after childhood abuse. We used algorithm to divide sample into probable non-CPTSD group. performed multilevel models interviewer-rated self-rated symptoms fixed effects (CPTSD, non-CPTSD) time (up 12 months follow-up) their interaction. Treatment response rates both groups were calculated. Results: Nineteen (43.2%) fulfilled criteria while 25 (56.8%) did not. Both showed symptom reduction over time. reported higher severity before treatment. Linear improvement similar groups. reduced disturbances self-regulation groups.Discussion: Both, without seemed benefit from also self-regulation.Conclusion: This presents initial clinical practice CPTSD. Abstract Cluster analysis of maltreatment-related mental health symptoms manifested by adolescents in foster care suggest the absence an underlying taxonomic structure. To test this further, we investigated alignment between symptom profiles derived through cluster and nominal diagnosis Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Complex Post-traumatic Stress (C-PTSD), among a sample 230 long-term care. Nominal DSM-V BPD ICD-11 C-PTSD caseness was estimated from Child Behaviour Checklist Assessment for Adolescents score algorithms, case assignment with previously-derived examined. Nineteen three cases were identified. Low prevalence reflected low concordance PTSD ‘disturbances self organization’ (DSO) assignment. The aligned to more complex severe profiles. While presentations identified present study included core clinical signs BPD, they also characterised clinical-level inattention/over-activity conduct problems. findings provide some support validity construct describing psychopathology care, no construct. However, point high variability combinations multiple types that does not conform traditional definitions ‘diagnosable’ disorder. Further research is needed determine if post-maltreatment symptomatology can be validly conceptualised as one or disorders.
