Purpose This study aims to investigate the expectations and expert opinions of food service professionals, thought leaders students as customers about college university dining (CUD) industry. The goal is identify strategic areas emphasis for CUD systems in 2030 thereafter. Design/methodology/approach Four independent studies were used inform final implications. researchers collected data by using six focus groups industry experts, in-depth interviews, a student customer survey think tank part participatory action research model. Thematic analysis was interpret qualitative findings, descriptive report quantitative data. Findings findings revealed that, meet needs students, providers must execute thoughtful facility design technology support, address labor cost issues operate with social responsibility sustainability at forefront. Considerations healthful eating form well-being addition physiological discussed. Originality/value leverages tenets health promotion model provide holistic understanding systems. It provides short long-term strategies that consider key constituents across institutions.
