Abstract Tissue compartmentalization is a fundamental feature of animal development, crucial for determining cell fate, growth, and organ morphogenesis. Hox genes play essential conserved roles in specifying homeotic compartments along the antero-posterior axis body. Despite extensive characterization gene regulation, mechanisms underlying formation, maintenance, reshaping during development remain incompletely understood. Here, we investigate role Toll-2 receptor formation folding Deformed (Dfd) compartment, which produces neck adult Drosophila . We show that properly forming bilateral Dfd compartment through fusion two eye-antennal imaginal discs. Additionally, find regulates timing morphogenesis by promoting apoptosis cell-cell rearrangements preceding folding. Last, establish independently sequentially governs both its via PI3K Src signaling, respectively. Altogether, our findings provide novel insights into spatiotemporal regulation development.
