SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Studies investigating the relationship between gut microbiome and osteoarthritis have increased in recent years. However, data on joints are limited. The aim of this study was to determine whether there is a relation knee joint fluid microbiota patients with osteoarthritis. METHODS: This included 40 individuals, 20 whom were diagnosed considered healthy controls. Joint-fluid stool samples taken from participants. Bacteria isolated identified using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time flight-mass spectrometry device. RESULTS: Twenty-nine different bacteria five joint-fluid samples. In our study, same types microorganisms (Enterococcus faecium Staphylococcus hominis) CONCLUSION: obtained shed light uncertainty how microorganisms, especially those hip literature, reach these regions. presence intestinal indicates that bacteria, individuals weak immune system, malnutrition, obesity, pass through wall other parts body via bloodstream, condition also known as "leaky gut."
