Abstract Internal browning (IB) is a common chilling injury (CI) feature in peach fruit after prolonged cold storage. Our previous study demonstrated that low O2 and elevated CO2 (eCO2) condition of modified atmosphere (MA) storage alleviated CI by facilitating the accumulation jasmonic acids (JAs) γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) ‘Zhonghuashoutao’ (‘ZHST’) fruit. Here we show 10% alone can improve tolerance, with ethylene response factor 17 (PpERF17) identified as pivotal transcription (TF) promotes biosynthesis JAs GABA. Stable transformation PpERF17 tobacco resulted reduced damage, attributed to decreased levels hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) malondialdehyde (MDA), well enhanced Moreover, under eCO2, PpMYC2.1, master regulator JA signaling, was found activate 13S-lipoxygenase (Pp13S-LOX), allene oxide synthase (PpAOS), 12-oxophytodienoate reductase 3 (PpOPR3), glutamate decarboxylase (PpGAD), while also inducing expression upstream TF PpERF17, thereby establishing positive feedback loops upregulating GABA biosynthesis. Finally, application methyl jasmonate (MeJA) before shelf transfer from development, due increased result raised related biosynthetic genes. Collectively, our results suggest eCO2-induced enhances activating signaling pathway. This contributes loop mediated ultimately alleviating through sustained
