Globally, potentially hundreds of Nylanderia species remain undescribed, hidden within several broadly distributed complexes morphologically cryptic species. By integrating phylogenomics, geography, and morphology, we describe eight new from southern Mexico Mesoamerica, increasing the total number known in genus to 131. In Americas, is divided into two distantly related clades: American Clade I (AC1) II (AC2). Within AC1, austroccidua (Trager) was originally described as a widespread variable Utah Costa Rica. This diagnosed by slight concavity anterior face pronotum varying degrees fine cuticular microsculpturing across body that causes blue iridescence under microscopic examination. Using Ultraconserved Elements (UCEs) for molecular phylogenetic analysis, found taxa matching original description N. are paraphyletic with respect Nearctic We also AC1 includes Neotropical subclade extending distribution which overlaps AC2, exclusively Neotropical. Along an updated austroccidua, following belonging clade AC1: breviscapa, sp. nov., contraria, lazulina, luceata, mendax mosaica polita usul, nov.
