Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) has been growing more powerful and accessible, will increasingly impact many areas, including virtually all aspects of medicine biomedical research. This review focuses on previous, current, especially emerging applications AI in clinical genetics. Topics covered include a brief explanation different general categories AI, machine learning, deep generative AI. After introductory explanations examples, the discusses genetics three main categories: diagnostics; management therapeutics; support. The concludes with short, medium, long-term predictions about ways that may affect field Overall, while precise speed at which continue to change is unclear, as are overall ramifications for patients, families, clinicians, researchers, others, it likely result dramatic evolution It be important those involved prepare accordingly order minimize risks maximize benefits related use field.

The potential of large language models (LLMs) in medical applications is significant, and Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) can address the weaknesses these terms data transparency scientific accuracy by incorporating current knowledge into responses. In this study, RAG GPT-4 OpenAI were applied to develop GuideGPT, a context aware chatbot integrated with database from 449 publications designed provide answers on prevention, diagnosis, treatment medication-related osteonecrosis jaw (MRONJ). A comparison was made generic LLM ("PureGPT") across 30 MRONJ-related questions. Ten international experts MRONJ evaluated responses based content, language, explanation, agreement using 5-point Likert scales. Statistical analysis Mann-Whitney U test showed significantly better ratings for GuideGPT than PureGPT regarding content (p = 0.006), explanation 0.032), 0.008), though not 0.407). Thus, study demonstrates be promising tool improve response quality reliability LLMs domain-specific knowledge. This approach addresses limitations chatbots traceable up-to-date essential clinical practice.

ABSTRACT Accurately diagnosing rare pediatric diseases frequently represent a clinical challenge due to their complex and unusual presentations. Here, we explore the capabilities of three large language models (LLMs), GPT‐4, Gemini Pro, custom‐built LLM (GPT‐4 integrated with Human Phenotype Ontology [GPT‐4 HPO]), by evaluating diagnostic performance on 61 disease case reports. The LLMs were assessed for accuracy in identifying specific diagnoses, listing correct diagnosis among differential list, broad categories. In addition, GPT‐4 HPO was tested 100 general pediatrics reports previously other further validate its performance. results indicated that able predict 13.1%, whereas both Pro had accuracies 8.2%. Further, showed an improved compared two list category. Although these findings underscore potential support, particularly when enhanced domain‐specific ontologies, they also stress need improvement prior integration into practice.

ABSTRACT Introduction As a large language model, chat generative pretrained transformer (ChatGPT) has provided valuable tool for various medical scenarios with its interactive dialogue‐based interface. However, there is lack of studies on ChatGPT's effectiveness in handling dental tasks. This study aimed to compare the knowledge and comprehension abilities ChatGPT‐3.5/4 that students about periodontal surgery. Materials Methods A total 134 participated this study. We designed questionnaire consisting four questions inclination ChatGPT, 25 multiple‐choice, one open‐ended question. comparison ChatGPT‐3.5 4, question was removed, rest same. The response time 4 as well 4′ performances were measured. Regarding students' feedback question, we also compared outcomes ChatGPT‐4′ teacher's review. Results On average, required 3.63 ± 1.18 s (95% confidence interval [CI], 3.14, 4.11) 12.49 7.29 CI, 9.48, 15.50), respectively ( p < 0.001) each multiple‐choice For these questions, accuracy 21.51 2.72, 14 20 students, respectively. Furthermore, ChatGPT‐4's review consistent Conclusions examinations related surgery, not yet comparable students. Nevertheless, ChatGPT shows promise assisting curriculum helping practitioners clinical letters reviews textual descriptions.
