Predictors of Moderate-High Posttraumatic Growth in Parents of Children With Cancer DOI

Background Parents of children with cancer may experience posttraumatic growth (PTG). In clinical practice, this parental enhancement is more likely to be seen a moderate-high PTG. Objective The aim study was determine the PTG prevalence parents diagnosed at least 6 months and investigate its relationship hope, social support, patient-parent characteristics. Methods This cross-sectional conducted admitted pediatric hematology-oncology unit using Parent-Child Characteristic Questionnaire, Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, Multidimensional Scale Perceived Social Support Dispositional Hope Scale. Univariate multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed variables associated Results One hundred one enrolled in study, 79.2%. There statistically significant difference between children’s age ( P = .037). Multivariate analysis showed that support from others (odds ratio 1.138, 95% confidence interval 1.030–1.257, .011) predictor Conclusions Moderate-high common among cancer. healthcare professionals other patient predictive factor. Abstract Background Pediatric transplantation can be a stressful process for patients and caregivers. Some individuals may experience post‐traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) growth (PTG) as result. Although disorder (PTSD) has been well‐studied in this population, the purpose of present scoping review is to provide first synthesis existing literature on PTG pediatric transplant populations. Methods We conducted search PsycINFO Scopus May 2023. Eligible articles must have included sample solid organ (SOT) or stem cell (SCT) recipients under age 18, siblings recipients, caregivers; examined PTG. Results Twenty‐three studies were identified, nine met inclusion criteria ( n = 5 cross sectional; 4 qualitative).
