In recent years, the academic profession has received increased interest as an object of study. Higher education systems all over world have submitted to deep and structural changes with implications for this professional group. Two relevant international projects been developed analyze in a comparative way: "The Changing Academic Profession" (CAP) "Academic Profession Europe: Responses Societal Challenges" (EUROAC). Drawing on a dialectical approach to resistance, we conceptualise the latter as multifaceted, pervasive and contradictory phenomenon. This enables us examine predicament in which early-career Critical Management Studies academics find themselves current times of academic insecurity ‘excellence’, gleaned through this group’s understandings resisters participants complex forces constituting their field. Researchers working under the institutional logics perspective find struggle between managerial logic and various professional one of most intriguing issues in healthcare organizations. This article presents results from a case study of media activities in Swedish governmental agency where we illustrate a) how the logic is translated and become embedded studied agency, b) different professional groups inside organization shape translation process. How can a professional identity persist when it is mismatched with the reality of work demands in one’s first job? Existing theory suggests that new members profession should adapt their identities to align profession’s and organization’s goals. Using data from an ethnographic study first-time hospital nurses, I develop concept idealized identities—identities rooted image history occupation rather than reality—and depict how these through client interactions despite negative consequences. Integrating palliative care into the trajectories of patients with incurable cancer has been a priority for years. Yet, intended outcomes this integration remain elusive. Many advanced continue to receive so-called aggressive treatments in end-of-life phase or miss out on specialised entirely. This paper contributes to the literature on maintenance of institutions by analyzing case an old profession—Scottish advocates. Digitalization has the potential to disrupt many service industries. This is already evident in industries offering standardized business-to-consumer services. Even knowledge-intensive business-to-business (B2B) services have increasingly blended digital technologies.
