Abstract The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming for global targets by 2030, are tracked a monitoring framework comprising 231 environmental, social, and economic indicators. provides data to assess whether, across countries, environmental policies are: (a) Addressing pressures, (b) Linked improvements, (c) with social benefits delivered healthy environments. While several studies have analyzed the implementation impacts of SDGs, there remains critical research gap in assessing linkage between their potential deliver multiple ecological benefits. This study examines efficacy implications health wellbeing. We use generalized linear modeling approach test correlations SDG show that some policies, particularly protected areas sustainable forest certification, linked mainly water ecosystems. However, we find no evidence improvements positive impacts. Finally, including freshwater withdrawal, domestic material consumption, tourism, degradation. Environmental policy responses generally increasing countries. Despite this, state environment globally continues decline. Governments must focus on understanding why not been sufficient reverse decline, concerning pressures continue degrade environment. To better track progress toward development, recommend is supplemented additional indicators

Abstract Accurate cropland map serves as the cornerstone of effective agricultural monitoring. Despite continuous enrichment remotely sensed maps, pervasive inconsistencies have impeded their further application. This issue is particularly evident in areas with limited valid observations, such southwestern China, which characterized by its complex topography and fragmented parcels. In this study, we constructed multi-sourced samples independent data producers, taking advantage open-source validation datasets sampling to rectify accuracy ten contemporary maps decoded inconsistencies, generated a refined (Cropland Syn ) leveraging state-of-the-art released from 2021 onwards using self-adaptive threshold method. Validations, conducted at both prefecture county scales, underscored superiority map, aligning more closely national land survey data. The are publicly available users. Our study offers valuable insights for improving practices management under-monitored providing high-quality datasets.

Abstract The many complex interconnections among countries driven by natural and socio‐economic processes have a crucial impact on regional global sustainability, yet robust systematic way to quantify this is lacking. Here we introduce two complementary approaches bridge key methodological gap. first entails constructing new sustainability index capable of systematically considering pertinent indicators interdependencies spillovers between countries. To minimize ambiguities associated with the aggregated index, second approach establishes spatial analysis framework, one designed explicitly incorporate dimensions interdependence spillovers, along buffer multiplier effects, enabling us distinguish gage sustainability. Overall, applied in tandem reinforce joint principles ‘one Earth’ ‘leaving no behind’, can help clarify countries' responsibilities respect sustainable development.

Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) provide a platform for participating countries to share their experiences, failures, and successes in achieving the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The objective of this study is gain deeper understanding narrative elements, particularly sentiment, VNRs order more effectively assess support global SDG progress. A total 232 from 166 are analyzed using Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA) extract each country’s sentiment toward 17 SDGs. scores then compared corresponding official UN scores, grouped by all SDGs identify potential common development pathways. analysis uncovers notable positive correlation between reported 2 (zero hunger) 11 (sustainable cities communities), negative 5 (gender equality). Conversely, relationship not significant majority SDGs, suggesting that VNR narratives may directly reflect actual t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE) approach indicates consistent score among developed countries. In contrast, there greater differences reporting Emerging Markets, Frontier Least Developed Countries (LDCs), where dispersion (especially LDCs) on progress appears have changed one year another. These findings highlight need interpret context unique situation challenges specific country.
