Lymphomas represent a heterogeneous group of blood tumors, generally divided into non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) (90% all lymphomas) and Hodgkin (HL). High-grade NHL can rapidly progress so that new strategies potentially therapeutical options are needed. Recently, it was shown Vitamin D (VitD) inhibits the growth cancer cells, controls their invasion metastasis, strengthens antitumor activity various types chemotherapeutic anticancer agents. Therefore, we reviewed recent literature about influence VitD its analogues (VDAs) on treatment prognosis B-cell lymphomas. As to in vitro studies different cell lines, VitD3 VDAs enhanced anti-proliferative efficacy chemotherapeutics increased expression receptor. In vivo studies, levels were considered: higher values plasma bioavailable correlated with better progression-free survival (PFS) overall (OS), while an unfavorable PFS OS observed deficient groups. No clinical trial made analogs, thus confirming absence positive role these synthetic drugs. conclusion, circulating related improved OS, reduced cancer-specific mortality, disease-free survival. analogs showed also effects only able improve parameters. Furthermore, complex approach plant-based diet, adequate for motor exercise, and/or eventual supplementation could be valuable strategy challenge

Published: Feb. 11, 2025

The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 in late 2019 triggered a global pandemic (COVID-19) that has claimed millions lives and continues to impact public health systems worldwide. This review examines current scientific evidence regarding the virus's origins, focusing on two primary hypotheses: zoonotic spillover laboratory-related emergence. A comprehensive analysis peer-reviewed literature published between December 2023 January 2025 was conducted, identifying relevant studies through searches PubMed Scopus databases. revealed strong phylogenetic supporting natural origin, with several indicating close genetic relationships bat coronaviruses. Environmental sampling data from Huanan Seafood Market detected RNA high number environmental samples animal stalls. While preponderance supports spillover, absence definitively identified intermediate host maintains some uncertainty. concludes evidence-based recommendations for enhanced viral surveillance, implementation One Health approaches, strengthened international collaboration frameworks prevent future coronavirus pandemics.
