Abstract
The
field
of
research
impact
assessment
(RIA)
has
seen
remarkable
growth
over
the
past
three
decades.
Increasing
numbers
RIA
frameworks
have
been
developed
and
applied
by
funders
new
technologies
can
capture
some
impacts
automatically.
However,
RIAs
are
too
different
to
draw
comparable
conclusions
about
what
type
methods,
data
or
processes
best
suited
assess
kinds,
how
should
most
efficiently
implement
RIAs.
To
usher
in
next
era
mature
field,
future
methodologies
become
more
transparent,
standardized
easily
implementable.
Key
these
efforts
is
an
improved
understanding
practically
report
on
at
funder-level.
Our
aim
address
this
gap
through
two
major
contributions.
First,
we
identify
common
items
across
existing
practice
guidelines
for
RIA,
creating
a
preliminary
reporting
checklist
reporting.
Next,
systematically
reviewed
studies
examining
funders’
biomedical
grant
portfolios
examine
reported
results
their
checklist,
as
well
operational
steps
took
