Pain is one of the most common health problems and has a severe impact on quality life. Yet, suitable efficient treatment still not available for all patient populations suffering from pain. Interestingly, recent research shows that low threshold mechanosensory C‐tactile (CT) fibres have modulatory influence CT‐fibres are activated by slow gentle stroking hairy skin, providing pleasant sensation. Consequently, known as affective touch. Currently, clear overview way touch modulates pain, at neural level, missing. This review aims to present such an overview. To explain interaction between first basis system processing pain will be described. clarify these systems, schematic illustration provided in every section. Hereafter, novel model interactions systems introduced. Finally, since might new chronic possible clinical implications discussed.
