ABSTRACT Across the globe, active efforts are underway to enhance well‐being of citizens. However, empirical work informing these investments largely ignores core assumptions theories: that both determinants and dynamic nature best captured at person‐level. Instead, studies aggregate across dynamics, losing unique experience individual well‐being. This mismatch creates a pressing issue whether current findings translate individual. In this paper, we argue science needs re‐center person in research accurately assess We first discuss why is as system consisting informed by meaning‐making. then integrate two show how meaning‐making gives way understanding intraindividual structure processes conclude with future directions science.
