Background: Sarcopenia, characterized by a progressive decline in muscle mass and strength, poses significant public health challenges for the elderly, impacting physical performance quality of life. This study aims to investigate associations between glucose profile, fasting insulin, renal function, strength among elderly residents single-centered nursing home Indonesia, identifying potential biomarkers sarcopenia. Methods: A cross-sectional analysis was conducted on 31 Santa Anna Nursing Home, with measured using handgrip dynamometry biochemical parameters evaluated through standardized laboratory methods. Results: Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) revealed strong negative correlations profile (β = − 0.683, p < 0.01) insulin 0.208, 0.05) while function showed moderate positive relationship 0.295, 0.05). Conclusion: These findings highlight as critical predictors sarcopenia, offering pathways early detection targeted interventions. Future research should explore longitudinal assessments molecular mechanisms refine sarcopenia prevention strategies aging populations. Keywords: biomarkers,

Abstract Background Skeletal muscle is a highly plastic tissue crucial for many functions associated with whole‐body health across the life course. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) current gold standard measuring skeletal size. However, MRI expensive, and access to facilities often limited. B‐mode ultrasonography (U/S) has been proposed as potential alternative assessment of date, no work explored utility U/S assess disuse atrophy (DMA) muscles different susceptibility profiles, an omission which may limit clinical application previous work. Methods To address this significant knowledge gap, 10 young men (22 ± years, 24.1 2.3 kg/m 2 ) underwent 15‐day unilateral leg immobilization using knee‐brace air boot. Cross‐sectional area (CSA) thickness (MT) tibialis anterior (TA) medial gastrocnemius (MG) were assessed via before after immobilization, CSA volume MRI. Results With both combined, there good correlations between each measure, (e.g., vs. MT : r = 0.88 0.94, respectively, P < 0.0001) VOL 0.90 0.96, immobilization. The relationship methods was notably stronger MG than TA at time‐point MG, 0.70, 0.0006; TA, 0.37, 0.10). There degree DMA determined by two in either pre‐ post‐immobilization, 136 6 133 5, 0.08; 6.05 0.3 5.92 0.4, 0.70; methods: 0.12, 0.75). Conclusions Both provide comparable static measures lower size compared MRI, albeit weaker agreement MG. Although can discern differences muscles, neither reliably DMA. Based on growing recognition heterogeneous profiles topical importance less commonly studied (i.e., falls prevention older adults), future research should aim optimize accessible determine losses body.
