CITALOPRAM reduced viscerosensory (bilateral posterior insular cortex, stomach-IR) integrative/affective components amygdala, stomach-IR heart-IR) pathways. We then searched varied current levels anxiety. anterior cortex increased anxiety, replicating prior findings. disappeared CITALOPRAM. Interoceptive dysfunctions are increasingly implicated in a number of physical and mental health conditions. Accordingly, there is pertinent need for therapeutic interventions which target interoceptive deficits. Consequently, this narrative systematic review sought synthesise current state literature with regard potential HR(V)-BF as an intervention across behavioural, physiological neural outcome measures related interoception. Abstract Ordinary sensations from inside the body are important causes and consequences of our affective states behaviour, yet roles neurotransmitters in interoceptive processing have been unclear. With a within-subjects design, this experiment tested impacts acute increases endogenous extracellular serotonin on neural attended internal links these effects to anxiety using selective reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) (20 mg citalopram ) placebo . Twenty-one healthy volunteers (fourteen female, mean age 23.9) completed Visceral Interoceptive Attention (VIA) task while undergoing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) with each treatment. The VIA required focused attention heart, stomach, or visual sensation. relative responses heart sensation [heart minus attention] (heart-IR) stomach [stomach (stomach-IR) were compared between treatments. Visual subtraction controlled for general sensory processing. Citalopram was associated lower viscerosensory (the stomach-IR bilateral posterior insular cortex) integrative/affective heart-IR amygdala) components pathways. In anterior cortex, reductions depended levels, removing previously known association region’s response observed Preliminary post hoc analysis indicated that amygdalae corresponded changes. This direct evidence anxiety-linked serotonergic influence processes advances understanding interoception, its regulation, anxiety.

Interoception involves perceiving internal bodily states, like heartbeat, breathing, hunger, temperature, plays crucial role maintaining homeostasis mind-body connection. This review explores complex relationships between PLMS, heart rate variability (HRV), ANS dysregulation, their impact on psychiatric disorders. By synthesizing existing literature, it provides insights into how dysregulation interoceptive processes, alongside contribute conditions. Abstract Trust attitude is a social personality trait linked with the estimation of others’ trustworthiness.
