Dinoflagellates belonging to the genus Hematodinium are key parasites of marine crustaceans, primarily decapods. In this study, we document first report H. perezi Chatton & Poisson, 1930 on African Atlantic coast. This is also parasite record in invasive non-native blue crab Callinectes sapidus Rathbun, 1896 Morocco. Specimens C. were sampled winter 2023 from two Ramsar sites Moroccan Atlantic, namely Merja Zerga and Oualidia Lagoons, screened detect presence their hemolymph. Based staining fresh hemolymph smears, did not any 36 investigated individuals (20 16 respectively), probably due methodological artifacts. The PCR-based method was revealed be more accurate diagnosing parasite. It showed that at Lagoon, 13 infected by (prevalence: 65%) comparison four Lagoon (25%). Genetic analysis, based ITS1 rDNA gene Hematodinium, confirmed sequences as being those perezi.
