Coral growth depends on the partnership between animal hosts and their intracellular, photosynthetic dinoflagellate symbionts. In this study, we used sea anemone Aiptasia , a laboratory model for coral biology, to investigate poorly understood mechanisms that mediate symbiosis establishment maintenance.
