Salmonella spp., as a major foodborne pathogen, pose significant threats to public health globally and has been an important zoonotic contamination for poultry industry that should receive increasing attentions. This study aimed comprehensively investigate the prevalence, antimicrobial resistances, virulence factors, plasmid types of isolates collected from chickens, ducks, geese across eight cities in Shandong between 2019 2022. Out 300 samples, 53 strains (17.67%) were isolated, with varied prevalence 8.33% 25.00% different Shandong. A total seven serotypes identified among isolates, wherein S. Enteritidis (45.28%), Pullorum (22.64%) Typhimurium (16.98%) most prevalent. Whole-genome sequencing analysis revealed ST11, ST92, ST19 predominant sequence Enteritidis, Pullorum, Typhimurium, respectively. Phylogenetic indicated potential clonal spread occurred regions, particularly evidences supported dispersed cross-species manner. Finally, phenotypic genotypic profiling antibiotic resistance these multidrug resistant corresponding genes (ARGs) including bla TEM, aac, aph, tet(A), tet(B) confer them resistances commonly-used veterinary drugs such β-lactams, quinolones, macrolides. To sum, this provides valuable insights into current epidemiology one biggest provinces China, shedding light on urgent necessity further approaches prevent decontaminate MDR livestock under One Health concept.
