Abstract Recombination generates new haplotypes and disconnects linked genes thereby increasing the efficiency of selection adaptive potential. Quantifying recombination landscape, i . e ., rate variation along chromosomes, is important for understanding how evolutionary processes such as drift are acting on chromosomes. Here, we present RecView , an interactive R application, designed to view locate positions chromosomes using whole-genome genotype data a three-generation pedigree. visualises grandparent-of-origin all informative alleles each chromosome offspring in It also infers putative with two algorithms, one based change proportion specific grandparent-of-origin, degree continuity same chromosome. Putative given base pairs together estimated error local density alleles. We demonstrate applicability sequencing 120 Mb-large (and its four grandparents parents) passerine bird, great reed warbler ( Acrocephalus arundinaceus ). On this chromosome, detected five events, three paternal maternal both algorithms. To evaluate sensitive analysis SNP density, downsampled our 10% original dataset. In conclusion, provide easy-to-use highly effective application viewing locating small pedigrees. test available GitHub https://github.com/HKyleZhang/RecView.git
