Abstract While sounds are essential for human development, existing research primarily emphasizes visual and spatial memory speech in relation to auditory processes, with a lack of cohesive understanding mechanisms non-verbal sounds. This systematic review coordinate-based meta-analysis neuroimaging findings aims comprehensively organize the literature identifying key brain involved short-term memory, working long-term information. Additionally, we aimed identify whether how individual differences neural processes related expertise (musicianship), aging or impairments such as amusia explored literature. Our included ninety studies meeting selection criteria, only thirteen containing coordinates could be meta-analysis. The identified frontal hub encompassing medial gyrus, cingulate gyrus superior gyrus.
