Spin-flip dark excitons are optical-dipole-forbidden quasiparticles with remarkable potential in optoelectronics, especially when they realized within cleavable van der Waals materials. Despite this potential, have not yet been definitively identified ferromagnetic Here, we report two a model material CrI3 using high-resolution resonant inelastic x-ray scattering and show that feature narrower linewidths compared to the bright previously reported material. These shown spin-flip character, disperse as function of momentum, change through transition temperature. Given versatility materials, these hold promise for new types magneto-optical functionality. An emerging application of resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) is the study lattice excitations and electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions in quantum materials. Despite growing importance this area research, community lacks a complete understanding how RIXS process excites these encode information about e-ph interactions. Here, we present detailed spectra Hubbard-Holstein model defined on extended one-dimensional lattices. Using density matrix renormalization group method, compute response while treating electron mobility, many-body interactions, core-hole an equal footing. The predicted exhibit notable differences from those obtained using commonly adopted Lang-Firsov models, with important implications for analyzing past future experiments. Our results provide deeper probes e-ph set stage more realistic analysis Published by American Physical Society 2025
