Introduction The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, particularly through hybrid chatbots, is reshaping the industry by enhancing service delivery, patient engagement, and clinical outcomes. These chatbots combine AI with human input to provide intelligent, personalized interactions areas like diagnostics, chronic disease management, mental health support. However, gaps remain trust, data security, system integration, user experience, which hinder widespread adoption. Key challenges include hesitancy patients trust due concerns over privacy accuracy medical advice, as well difficulties integrating into existing healthcare infrastructures. review aims assess effectiveness improving outcomes, reducing costs, while identifying barriers adoption such cultural adaptability issues. novelty lies its comprehensive exploration both technological advancements socio-emotional factors influencing chatbot acceptance. Methods follows a systematic methodology four core components: eligibility criteria, selection, extraction, synthesis. Studies focused on applications management support, were included. Publications from 2022 2025 prioritized, peer-reviewed sources English considered. After screening 116 studies, 29 met criteria for inclusion. Data was extracted using structured template, capturing study objectives, methodologies, findings, challenges. Thematic analysis applied identify themes: applications, technical advancements, adoption, challenges/ethical concerns. Statistical content methods employed synthesize comprehensively, ensuring robustness findings. Results Hybrid have shown significant benefits, hospital readmissions up 25%, engagement 30%, cutting consultation wait times 15%. They are widely used education, demonstrating their efficiency developed developing countries. Discussion concludes that overcoming these infrastructure investment, training, enhanced transparency crucial maximizing potential healthcare. Future researchers should focus long-term addressing ethical considerations, expanding cross-cultural adaptability. Limitations narrow scope some case studies absence AI’s efficacy diverse contexts.
