Abstract Educational institutions worldwide face mounting challenges in effectively integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into their operations, largely due to the absence of comprehensive frameworks for evaluation and implementation. This systemic gap has led fragmented adoption practices, missed opportunities innovation, potential risks deployment AI solutions. The rapid proliferation higher education created significant institutional leaders who must balance technological advancement with educational outcomes, ethical considerations, resource constraints. study addresses these critical by developing a taxonomy applications leadership. Through systematic literature review inductive analysis publications from 2017 2024, research synthesizes diverse ten distinct domains: Administrative Efficiency, Personalized Learning, Enhancing Teaching Practices, Decision-Making Policy Formulation, Student Support Services, Organizational Leadership Strategic Planning, Governance Compliance, Community Engagement Communication, Ethical Leadership, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Initiatives. resulting taxonomy, validated across various contexts, provides structured framework understanding, evaluating, implementing solutions institutions. contributes field offering common language conceptual researchers, policymakers, practitioners, while also identifying areas future research. findings underscore transformative need balanced approach that leverages advancements addressing considerations equity issues.
